Eka Akobia

Dr. Eka Akobia, Dean, Caucasus School of Governance; Director, Institute of Peace Studies (IPS)

Dr. Eka Akobia is the Dean of the Caucasus School of Governance and directs the Institute of Peace Studies (IPS) at Caucasus University. She is also an associate professor at CU. Variously she teaches theories of international relations, international organizations, UN Peacekeeping Operations and a Research Design courses.

 She was a participating professor of the Erasmus+ PESTUGE project. As part of her project related activities she organized the first Tbilisi International Peace Conference, TIPC (2017) and co-organized the second TIPC (2018). She has worked to set up the IPS at the Caucasus University and together with the project management team helped organize IPS activities under the project PESTUGE, including regional peace studies trainings, facilitated translation and publication of peace studies readers in Georgian, established students’ activity groups. Currently, the aim of the Institute at Caucasus University is to promote teaching and research in peace as part of the Caucasus School of Governance as well as support interdisciplinary peace studies agenda at the University, raise funding to support these activities and further develop a network of peace studies partners both nationally, regionally and globally.
